Antique 1920s Czech Art Deco Amber Glass Necklace | Attributed to Neiger Brother
An extraordinary antique Czech glass necklace dating to the 1920s–1930s, featuring richly detailed metalwork, glowing amber-colored faceted glass, and an elaborate articulated pendant. This remarkable piece exhibits numerous design and construction characteristics associated with the celebrated Neiger Brothers of Czechoslovakia.
The ornate centerpiece features a large, raised oval amber-colored glass stone framed by delicate rope and beaded borders. Surrounding it are smaller faceted amber glass stones nestled within intricately detailed scrolling metalwork. Suspended gold-tone ball charms and a beautiful articulated glass drop add movement and dimension.
The reverse is equally fascinating, featuring an elaborate openwork floral backplate with intricate scrolling details—a particularly compelling example of the decorative construction found in early 20th-century Czech revival jewelry.
The necklace’s beautifully coordinated chain incorporates elongated glass beads, smaller rounded glass beads, decorative metal spacers, and ornamental bead caps. It retains an antique screw-together barrel clasp.
The combination of elaborate metalwork, dimensional stone settings, ornamental backplate, and distinctive bead construction strongly evokes the work of the Neiger Brothers, renowned for their elaborate Czech glass jewelry of the Art Deco era.
