Vintage 1930s Art Deco Dragon's Breath Glass Hinged Cuff Bracelet | 1935 Patent
An extraordinary authentic Art Deco-era hinged cuff bracelet featuring three fiery Dragon’s Breath glass cabochons set in a beautifully detailed silver-tone geometric design.
Dating to approximately 1935–1940s, this bracelet features a large oval Dragon’s Breath glass centerpiece flanked by two smaller matching cabochons. Each stone displays captivating flashes of electric blue and violet against a glowing reddish-orange background, creating the mesmerizing effect for which antique Dragon’s Breath glass is so highly prized.
The bracelet’s architectural design is quintessential Art Deco, featuring sleek linear detailing, stepped geometric elements, and decorative bezel settings.
What makes this piece particularly special is its patented construction. The interior is stamped PAT. 1994826, corresponding to U.S. Patent No. 1,994,826, granted March 19, 1935, to inventor George K. Lowe for an innovative double-hinged bracelet mechanism. The bracelet also bears a small R-in-square mark, documented on other surviving examples of this patented design.
The ingenious hinged construction allows the bracelet to open for comfortable placement on the wrist while maintaining its structured cuff silhouette.
